Windows will not go full screen

I run Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro in VirtualBox and it will not go full screen. I used to use Parallels, but W7 was like Molasses in the Arctic. So I switched to VB because my friend suggested it. Now it will not go full screen (for me, 1680x1050). I either get a box in the middle of my screen or I can't see the taskbar.

Is there a way to force Windows to a certain resolution?

I'm on a MacBook 2.2 Core 2 Duo, using VirtualBox for Win7RC, and I have a possibly related video issue: I am not able to find a driver for my video card installed in the virtual machine, so I cannot use the Aero themes - nor does any of the Aero eye-candy work.

In response to Chsmadden: have you installed Guest Additions? From the VirtualBox "Devices" menu (while your virtual PC is running) choose "Install Guest Additions."

Well good evening people and welcome to the Se7enforums! When running XP, Vista, or 7 on a virtual machine don't expect a lot of device drivers to go on like you would normally see when any version is installed directly to a hard drive.

As for not being able to go full screen I run into that running the new XP mode for 7 as well as having Vista running on the Virtual PC beta. A virtual machine operates mainly in a windowed environment. The video card is actually a virtual card and addon devices like tv tuner cards will fail to initialize.

A virtual machine allows you to run the OS and programs compatible with it in an isolated environment apart from the host OS. That allows Linux to be run on a Windows machine as well as seeing some run Windows on a Linux box. Likewise the 7 RC is a guest OS on the MacBooks you have there.
