Windows will not install on my HDD - what does this message mean?

Windows 7 doesn't like the HDD I formatted. How do I fix it?

The elected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems windows can only be installed on GPT disks.

I'm trying to do this tip from that list above:

See if you have the option to deselect EFI Boot disk in BIOS Boot order so that you can install to an MBR HD.

BiOS offers this:
EFI and LEGACY
LEGACY ONLY
EFI ONLY

Which one to install an MBR HD?
(N.B. I think its set to EFI and LEGACY and not accepting HD.)

You're probably better off following theog suggestion in post #4. Your board supports UEFI, why not go with that instead of a LEGACY BIOS.

I know... I pointed you towards the other thread, but theog found what I thought might be in there and provided a direct link.

Just a heads up - you should have one only drive online when installing winodws 7. Should is perhaps a strong word - it makes it easier to define your disk configuration.

The drive says it's Basic in Disk Mgmt, so it needs to be converted using Convert MBR Disk to GPT Disk - Windows 7 Forums from Disk Mgmt make sure Legacy + UEFI remains set in BIOS then it should let you create your partitions. Always unplug all other drives in Disk Mgmt to avoid other problems.

The other way to do this from the UEFI booted installer is to delete all partitions before install which should remove the Basic formatting and commence install in UEFI mode since that's the way you booted in the installer as shown in UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Forums.
