Windows wont access my second drive

my xp pro system crashed so i formated my second drive and installed wimdows 7. then i reconnected the old drive as a slave to salvage my data but windows says that it has no recognised file system. i really need to get the data back. how can i access this drive. please help!!!!!

Is the XP drive formatted as Fat32?

I would d/l a copy of Ubuntu linux and use it in live mode. Use Gparted to recover your files...

But if he doesn't know Linux that might get a bit complicated for him.

Maybe a solution would be to put the drive in a friend's computer that has xp, copy the files. than format as ntfs, and copy back the files.
