So I just finished installing photoshop and dreamweaver on my computer, and I planned on restarting to install some important updates (windows automatic updates). So after Everything installed, I clicked shut down, and it installed 7 updates. After that finished, I went to turn the computer back on, I get nothing. The only thing I see is the intel motherboard image/screen. It wont go any farther than this. It wont even let me boot from a cd or anything. What should I do???!

Tried that with no luck. I tried 2 different ways. Resetting the jumper pins, and also pulling out the battery. No difference yet

Hmm.....

Unplug Hard Drive/s, does the system boot past the flash screen?

Not sure what else you need to know about it? Back when I built it, this thing was a beast (a few years ago). I've had to reformat a couple times, and this time I decided to put windows 7 on it, and completely wipe off all my HD's.

It was running smooth until this happened. I'm on my laptop now, searching for answers. I dont mind completly reformating my harddrive again, since I just did it about a week ago, and dont have very many programs on it yet. I just need this thing up and running again so I can start making money again (graphics and web design).

If you are not able to boot from bootup cd and not completing bios post than it may be dying motherboard or dead motherboard battery, because if bios working than it should ideally take you to os, may be floppy seek?, some motherboard come with bios halt if a specific device not found.

You think it's just a coincidence that right after I did the updates, the motherboard died? Could it be the motherboard battery?

Even if board battery was dead, this is not going to prevent the system from booting correctly, the battery is there to 'contain' the settings within your BIOS when the system is shut down. If the battery is dead, then all that would happen is that you would have to enter settings in BIOS every cold boot, as they would be cleared at shutdown due to lack of power to the CMOS from the dead battery. But you cant enter BIOS???

I'd unplug everything and start a process of elimination, bare board adding one component at a time, I think this is a coincidence, as I cant see how updates/software could be causing a hardware malfunction?

Still no luck with this piece of ****. I cant even boot to a different harddrive or anyhting

There is no way i can install another operating system on this computer because I guess the motherboard is ****ed.

UPDATE:: I'm making progress. I did what you said, unplug everything, and work your way up. With just the cd drive and keyboard plugged in, I made it to the bios so I could change the boot sequence to the cd drive first. I'm now trying to repair windows with the OS cd

Repair didnt work. I'm installing a fresh copy of windows to the harddrive. Something screwy happened with either the install of photoshop, or the update. Whatever it was, lets just hope it doesnt happen again haha. Once I have this problem resolved completely, i'll update again just incase future users come across the same problem.

Well, I got it up and running. I had no operating system installed which was the problem. Good thing I didnt just run out and buy a new MOBO. Or start pulling my video card and my adapters off. That woulda been a waste.

Thanks for the help
