i ran some disk check program which crashed and now i blue screen and cant load windows.
i tried the option for an auto fix (startup repair) and that didnt work.
safe mode doesnt boot.

it looks as if the program is still trying to load before windows but blue screens. i clear cmos still BSOD

i go into dos prompt and now my ssd main drive is rename to X drive instaed of C: ! WTF
Is there a way for me to change the disk assignment letter in the dos prompt ?

Additional Comment:

If i load the dos prompt with the SSD ONLY its renamed the SSD drive to X: not c: ! So even though there is only one drive installed by default its not making it c:

This may sound useless, but give this a try, start the system with the windows disc in the drive. Do not press any key when prompted and see if it will load windows.

With SSD plug in and windows CD in drive, i post , says boot from drive press any key. I do nothing. System reboots. Posts again, repeats. Then i get asked to load repair or start normally which both fail to help me.

Now in repair it again shows local disk has the wrong assignment letter.

I boot into windows with the SSD as secondary. I then go into the bios and change it to load the SSD first as prim and it wont boot. Its like that disk program is still trying to load something before windows. How can i make sure thats its not loading that stupid program before windows ?

Yeah, the drive itself would not appear to be damaged, the problem seems to be in the bootmgr, and possibly in your bios it's almost as if the drive has been assigned to a new device/partition slot, which makes bootmgr fail. Generally I reformat in this situation but I have a configuration where all my data and apps are on another drive so formatting isn't a big deal for me.
hopefully someone else will be by with a better option for you.
I've tried many methods to repair bootmgr but I've never personally had a lot of success with it.
