Hello, I'm new and dumb to self help when it comes to computers, any help will be appreciated. I start my PC it immediately goes to Windows Error Recover, with options Launch Repair or Start normally. I'm guessing this is standard, if I choose either one I get loading files, this runs about 15 seconds then freezes. Can anyone help?
Thanks

this can either be caused by a failing hard drive or faulty ram.

also software could be an issue but im not so sure. when you first turn the computer on before the windows logo press f8 to boot into safe mode. if all works well its more than likely windows at fault. buuut.. im sticking to a hardware issue.

just to prove me otherwise and safe mode does work, do you have a windows install disc? if so try booting with it in and then run start up repair.

thats your boot order which is part of the bios. if you are seeing that then youre pressing f8 too early.

I have my windows 7 disc, it won't boot, I have tried pressing F8 at different times I only get the windows error or normal and the Bio. I do not see the window's logo at all it goes directly to repair. Thanks for your help, I'm thinking I'm dead in the water.

do you have more than one stick of ram? if so take one out and try booting. if that doesnt work swap it for the other one, if the same issue occurs its not the ram.

which would then point to the hard drive. only way to test that is to put another in it and install windows on it.
