Depends upon what type of game you are trying to play. If you want to play games like Call of Duty, or Crysis it won't handle it. If you are talking about simple games...than those should work fine.

You should try to get games working in Windows 7 first. Try compatablity mode (all flavours) and read how others got games working.

I wouldn't try 3D games in XP Mode as PParks1 states - it can't handle it. It also makes a differnce if your using Windows 7 in 32 or 64 bit.

So just try the game first - and read up, or enquire if you can't get it working.

I would definitely not use XP mode to play games unless they're very simple. It's way too slow. If you must play games in XP mode, install it, then install VMware Player 3 and import your vhd. Then copy your base vhd file from XP mode and put it in your VMware working directory and uninstall XP mode. Then you can play decent games in XP! :D

Hi there
Not quite true -- it will depend on how far the 3D "Virtual" video driver is implemented in vmware (or your other virtualisation software).

Any native calls to the hardware itself on your graphics cards will also in all likelihood not work in a virtual machine.

For game playing in a virtual machine vmwware player 3.0 / WKS 7 is probably your best bet.

MS's XP mode would be a total disaster for this.

Cheers
