Hi all,
I have a dell optiplex 740 (running windows xp professional) which i need to gain access to in order to transfer emails from outlook express to thunderbird on a new windows 7 pro computer.
The issue is that the computer is not allowing me to use the keyboard or mouse to login.
worked completed so far.
- booted to bios in which the keyboard and mouse both work
- run tests which offer success results in the keyboard and mouse options
- removed the CMOS battery and cleared the CMOS leaving the battery out overnight.
- both mouse and keyboard show active lights when desktop is powered up
- both mouse and keyboard are USB
- motherboard does not have PS/2 connectors
- tried 2 sets of mouse and keyboards to see if this would help.
- left the computer running for 30mins to see if the keyboard and mouse would start responding.
rebooted the machine to login and no movement from the mouse or keyboard when selecting the tab option.
I've gone as far and removing the hard drive to get to the outlook express files but cannot get to the files as have no permission access.
can anyone offer some advice? :sarc:
regards
andrew
