I'm sorry if there're other threads related to this.
I wonder if this classic window counter can be used on Windows 7...
Unfortunately, Windows 7 doesn't show any counters, so I'm in trouble. I keep Windows 7 as close to Windows XP as possible. I don't know how to do that, so I use 7+ Taskbar Numberer instead.
Please let me know if you know anything about this, thanks.

Hello yutopon777,
welcome to Seven Forums.

Personally, I do not know how to number the Taskbar Thumbnail items in Windows 7, as you request.

So I am wondering why you might want such a feature? If you want quick access to open windows then do you know of a couple of keyboard shortcuts that you might like:

1) Hold down Windows key + Press Tab key repeatedly, cycles through all your open windows.

2) Hold down CNTRL key and mouse-click a Taskbar Thumbnail repeatedly, cycles through each stacked Thumbnail.

Still nothing that relates to numbered Thumbnails, but I tried.

This was a feature of Windows Explorer in XP. I don't believe it exists in Windows 7 and later. Likely it wasn't very popular. 7+ Taskbar Numberer works in Windows 7 but apparently not in recent builds of Windows 10. Windows doesn't directly support this kind of thing so developers must resort to low level tricks. Microsoft has repeated warned against this as they can break with even a minor OS update.
