Create a partition on your drive and test it out. I am running 64 bit 7100 RC of 7 with Home premium on another partition.

Give it a try before your wipe your system to see if you like it.

You have a nice machine there and you are going to like Windows 7. Give this Tutorial a once over. You are going to shrink your current partition (if necessary), create a new partiton and logical drive. Install Win7 on the new drive.

This will allow you to dual boot for a while. It is possible that you will run into an issue - I don't know which pre-release version of Win7 you have. BY keeping Vista intact, you will not be married to Win7.

Your platform is solid, Windows 7 is solid. Best wishes. Post back or create a new thread if you encounter a specific issue. There are some really clever problem solvers here.

dual boot, if not completely switch over. I went from dual booting vista 64 to just ONLY windows 7 back when it was in the RC stage, it runs amazing and games great. Nice OC on that 2.6 AMD to 4.0 by the way. is it a Phenom II.

Windows 7 is great, and I'd get the 64bit so you have all 8GB of ram, the RC version is still up for download from Microsoft or you can try to get the other leaks, I don't know where tho, but I'm sure you could google it.

is your question "would you update to windows 7 if you were me?" I agree with Blackhawk7188 that if you want to try it you should not wipe out your vista x64 installation, for many reasons.. but it is a good idea to try windows 7 because it has a new kernel, that is more optimized. as far as I know, they re-wrote the kernel and possibly other parts of the operating system, because they did some things wrong with vista ( it became a memory hog ).

but to be honest, since you have so much RAM, I don't think the memory savings of windows 7 are going to make a big difference for you, still it is worth a try to see if you like windows 7, if you always like to try the latest then you should give it a try and see for yourself!

for me I skiped vista all toghether, and since I was an XP user, windows 7 was a big jump in terms of interface and ease of use. but for a vista users, it's not a huge jump, the interfance is mostly the same, it is mostly the inside ( I.E. Kernel ) that has changed, so I think you won't notice a big difference... well at least not on the outside! but excpect windows 7 to perform better overall, specially on the bechmarks tests, since it has a new better written kernel.

Math.Floor( (Math.Floor(y/17d) * Math.Pow(2d,(-17d * Math.Floor(x)) - (Math.Floor(y)%17d))) % 2d);

What range of numbers does this work for? Cause I tried a slew of combinations of doubles between -5 and 5 for both x and y and they all are <= 0. I am sure it's possible that I read it wrong, or some precision error occurred.

Try this:
0 < x < 107 and k < y < k + 17 where k is the following 541-digit integer:
