System doesn't boot

I am trying now to install Windows 7 Ultimate x64, but it keeps giving me this error message: "Marvell adapter initializing bios version ..xyz...
Adapter 1
No hard disk is detected"

My components are:
Mainboard ASUS P5QL
Intel E8400 3.0
Graphic card ATI HD4870

4GB RAM (2x2GB)
500GB Seagate HD
1TB Samsung HD
LG DVD

I only have my DVD drive and 1 HD connected via SATA cables at the moment. Then I went into BIOS and set the boot priority to go CDROM, then HDD, try to install.

And it still gives me this error message.

All help is appreciated!

I resolved the issue myself by looking at the wiring(which was pretty crowded, but that may be due to a cramped case.) Anyway, I found that the DVD-ROM was disconnected and wasn't even in the appropriate place. Plugged that in and it worked.

Thanks.
Taken from one of Gregs links incase you didnt look.

Check all connections, try removing the ram chip.

Where did you get your drivers from?Another pc with internet?

Try booting from the Win7 installer, to see if it recreates the same error message as when you try to install from desktop.

The links from Googling that error message say that Marvell adapter is a SATA controller but I have only known Marvell to be an ethernet adapter. Since you say you are attempting to install from desktop with internet, it may be the ethernet adapter that is boinking the install.

Try installing from boot with no internet, or disabling the Marvell ethernet adapter.

(My offering other ideas is not meant to detract from Snuffy and Minotar's excellent suggestion to pre-load SATA drivers in installer, just to give other possibilities in case needed)

Did you download the SATA drivers on your laptop, copy them to usb, then when they ask to add drivers you get the ones off the usb?

If your looking for some,
Searching for: ASUS P5QL - Softpedia

the Vista drivers should work.

System doesn't boot

I am trying now to install Windows 7 Ultimate x64, but it keeps giving me this error message: "Marvell adapter initializing bios version ..xyz...
Adapter 1
No hard disk is detected"

My components are:
Mainboard ASUS P5QL

The Marvell Controller on the P5Q is for PATA (IDE) devices. As you are only using SATA:

Go into BIOS
Turn off the Marvel IDE controller
Check the SATA controller is enabled
Check yr SATA HD is recognised
Check yr SATA HD is listed as second boot device after cd/dvd or as first hdd

save & reboot

if that doesn't work you may need a sata driver but I'd be surprised if the P5Q drivers are not on the windows disk.
