I have run into some problem while trying to setup file sharing between a windows 7 32bit PC and a vista 64bit laptop. both PC are now in the same home group. On the vista laptop, I can see the file folders I shared on the windows 7 PC. However I can only access the files in the public folders but not the files in another folder in chinese name I shared in windows 7 PC. When I try to open the folder in chinese name, it says the path might be wrong. Please let me know how to fix this problem.

OK are you using the english win 7 and english keyboard layout? are there any characters in the chinese folder name not supported (period ^@, etc)?

Hope this helps

I am using english windows 7 with chinese display. The folder name is in chinese but no other special characters. The vista laptop in english but it can see the chinese folder name.

How deep is the path to that folder? I believe there is a finite number of characters the can be in a path statement.

With chinese display? does that mean you downloaded the language pack ?

OK also was the chinese folder created in windows or vista? who owns the chinese folder?

I downloaded and installed the chinese language pack in windows 7. The chinese folder is in the windows 7 PC right under D drive. It is not under any other folder. The folder name is only 2 character in chinese.

When you said this "both PC are now in the same home group" this indicates to me that you are using Homegroups for a mixed Op system network. The Windows 7 Homegroup sharing feature is only meant to be used in an all Windows 7 network, no other Op systems are meant to use Homegroups.

I suggest you go back and set up a Workgroup type of network which should work better for you.
