I am not sure what is causing this. At first I got caught in a repair loop, then when I managed to shut it off I got an ntoskrnl.exe failure. Now I get the above message. I've tried clearing the bootcache amongst other things and nothing seems to work.

It comes up right before the logon should appear. Scandisk, memcheck etc. return nothing. I can use Live CDs etc. just fine, but the OS won't boot.

I want to try a repair install but I don't have enough space and I can't get GParted to boot. Any ideas?

Bug Check 0x6B: PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED (Windows Debuggers)
Perfom a "startup repair" . What is the main root cause? You can click there on "view diagnostic details" or something like that. Which test doens't have status 0x0? post a much details as possible.

Cause

Any part of the disk subsystem can cause the PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED bug check, including bad disks, bad or incorrect cables, mixing different ATA-type devices on the same chain, or drives that are not available becuase of hardware regeneration.
This bug check can also be caused by a missing file from the boot partition or by a driver file that a user accidentally disabled in the Drivers tab.

Did you disable a driver? Did you delete an important file?

Repair install is actually an in place upgrade install http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html . So you have to make win7 bootable first!

urgh.

I think some part of the WAT may have been corrupted as I've been having issues with that for some time. it's possible a virus may have corrupted it.

Startuprepair returns back the StartupRepairOffline flag.

I got an ntoskrnl.exe failure=>What error message? How fixed?
I've tried clearing the bootcache=>How did you clear it? You did Windows 7 BSOD - PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED | its.isber.ucsb.edu ?

Unspecified changes to system configuration might have caused the problem.

The second mention of this had had:

Repair action: System files integrity check and repair
Result: Failed. Error code = 0xa

So not terribly helpful...

I'm wondering if I could copy over files from my laptop which has a functioning version of Windows 7, while keeping the registry et. all of the old computer? I've already restored from the Regbackup directory so it's not a registery issue.

also i'm having problems even reinstalling windows. the botable USB i'm using with the image i originally used is showing up no drivers. argh. no option for a repair install even.

Problem Signature 7: CorruptFile. We have to determine which one.

Windows drive is called D in recovery environment in your case. Very normal.. no problem.
Try http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/682-command-prompt-startup.html
From that command prompt:

Code:
md d:\problem
set WINDOWS_TRACING_LOGFILE=D:\problem\CBS.log
sfc/scannow /offbootdir=d:\ /offwindir=d:\windows
find "[SR]" D:\problem\CBS.log > D:\problem\sfcdetails.txt
post results. Preferable a camshot!

copy D:\problem\sfcdetails.txt to usb stick, connect to healthy computer and post.

So windows drive is called D now. No problem. Post a camshot as asked!

Oh...

also the Windows Drive is D because of the BootCD I'm using I think.

also I've posted all the relevant info. i don't think a camshot would help and i don't feel like going through the same thing again.

how do i use sfc when it tells me a scan is scheduled? would i be able to use it from a live cd?

I can't clear the system repair is pending which requires rebot to complete when i try sfc/scannow.

I used a command to remove pending actions, and cleared the xmls in winsxs. Interestingly, the repair finds no more errors, but I still can't run sfc. What's the problem? I'll try a reboot.
