I am trying to run WinTV V6 on my computer after recently going from Windows XP to Windows 7.

The thing is, WinTV V6 worked beautifully on XP - no problems at all. But now I've gone to 7 and now it's playing up a bit.

I can install the drivers and the program as usual, and it can work fine to begin with. But then, for no apparant reason, I try to start it up and I get the message:

"Cannot access tv tuner. Please check the unit is connected and the drivers are correctly installed".

The device IS connected and I have gone into Device Manager to check the drivers, which are said to be working fine.

I restart the computer and get WinTV back for a little while. But then the whole thing starts all over again with the same warning message.

I'm getting the feeling that the software/hardware isn't compatible with Windows 7. If this is the case, is there a program that is compatible?

Any help or advice with this problem would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Doctor.

Hi there
Get the latest version from the Hauppage site (version 1.2C) -- it will need the original CD when you install.

It has been known to have problems on Windows 7 - not finding all the channels etc - but if you clear out everything with the hwclear.exe utility it will be fine.

BTW on a lot of hauppage devices Windows Media center works straight out of the box - you can use the "bog standard" Windows 7 driver.

The only problem with WMC is that if you need composite input as well then unless you have a remote there's no way of defining a composite input -- annoying since when it is being set up you CAN preview a composite input.

Cheers

Tried all that.

I've tried different drivers and different versions and media centre and so on and so on.

Media centre is annoying with the remote thing. I have no idea what IR hardware means and it mentions something called a set top box - no idea!

I even tried the very latest WinTV v7, but that didn't work either.

I have Windows 7 home premium 32bit - because that is what Windows Upgrade Advisor told me to install before I changed it from XP.

Should I be using 64bit???

I've just checked out my "system specs" and it clearly says that my system is "64bit capable". But I'm confused because why would Upgrade Advisor suggest 32bit if I can use 64bit?
