Solved Wired connection not working

There was a thunderstorm yesterday, and my power shut off for a moment. I heard a loud pop from my computer as it shut off, and am fearful that something went wrong.

Today, I noticed that my network access was really slow, and it seems that my computer is using wireless, and not the wired connection i normally use. It is showing up as "unidentified netowrk" with "No network access" checking the properties on it, I have 0 packets sent. I have a static ip address, and so i disabled this to see if it is something with that. Now i get a default 169.254.x.x, and have no gateway.

I have:
run the windows troubleshooter
reset the router
reset the computer
replaced the network cable
changed ports on the router
ipconfig release / renew
netsh winsock reset
forced a valid static ip again

Note that the wireless is still working fine for all devices, but i cant get the wired connection working at all. Please help

IP config, since I know you will ask

Yellow light is flashing from my pc. green from my router.
This seems weird to me. doesnt the yellow light indicate 10mb/sec?

Got me to check the properties on the ethernet controller. It indicates that the linkspeed is indeed 10mb/sec, while gigabyte tells me its a gigabit connection (GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1150 - GA-Z97X-SLI (rev. 1.0))

The onboard network port is out. I bought a new card, and it is working fine.
Its a real shame, as the board is already defective after only 4 months...
