Wired versus Wireless?

Hello, I bought a new wireless N router and connected that up. Thank you for your good help on that. However, I find that the wireless just does not give me the speed that I had with my wired router. I find that the web pages hang for many seconds at a time and, many times, the page goes to 404 error page as I go link to link when online. This happened only 'blue moon' occasionally when I was on a wired router. It is bad enough that I plan to go back to the wired router for my normal online chores.

My question, can I put my 'wired' router back in place (as the lead) and still have wireless service in my house? I now have a tablet that I carry around the house with me and have grandkids that come over with their tablets as well. Can these two routers be daisy chained? Or what would be the set-up to have both services? Thank you.

Yes, you will have to disable the dhcp server on one of them. Then make sure that you place the cable connecting them into the LAN ports of the device not the internet ports.

My house is setup with 1 wired router to 3 different switches then from two of the switched i have 2 wireless access points (different then routers but same concept). Then from all the switches i have gigabit connection to every room in the house wired and wireless.

It works quite well and it can be accomplished you will just have to adjust your router settings.

Yep, no problem at all. I have Wireless enabled on my router (I'm security conscious, and only permit authorised devices to connect to my network). My main computer is connected via Ethernet (wired), but my others (Notebook etc.) are connected wirelessly. I have been known to have them all online at the same time.

Me too. I run a mix of wired and wireless connections without any problems. There was no special setup required.

I got a Netgear R6300 router with a built in media server and the routers wireless can't cut it for streaming into the PS3 upstairs. Begins to burp and fart then freeze till it catches up on itself. Also the router is downstairs kinda hinders a bit but hardwiring the ps3 in is the only way to go.

QoS being utilized also corrals some of the other bandwidth hogging devices.
Its well worth researching and using if your router has it already, if you don't know what it is and what it does. It saved my sanity with serious lagging issues with the other devices being used and hogging the bandwidth.
As you can see my computer has the highest priority.:devil:
