Wireless Atheros Issues

Basically, my problem is that my wireless adapter doesn't work. The adapter is under system specs on my page, Atheros 802.11 a/b/g/n Dualband Wireless Network Module. Device manager says the wireless adapter is working properly, and has the most recent driver. The adapter cannot, however, detect any wireless networks. My problem is almost the exact same as:

http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/44486-no-networks.html

But I have different hardware and a different adapter. When I select troubleshoot, it tells me there might be a problem with the driver for the wireless network connection adapter. I am really confused, and had to grab my laptop to write this up. Thanks!

Should I try to grab the vista or XP drivers even though I have windows 7? And which version, there's so many it's not even funny O_o

(Assuming you meant ATHEROS drivers for Microsoft Windows )

That entire page is about solving your problem but I can't seem to click on any of them. Use the latest drivers they have. These seem to be the most recent. http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/NE...725-Notebook-Atheros-WLAN-Driver-770331.shtml

The page I linked too said this.
Hello superinintendo!

I just got my wirleless abit air-pace wi-fi card to work. I would load the drivers supplied by ABIT and the win7 system would crash! Bsod and reboot. Turns out the drivers needed were actually atheros ar5006. Abit site had azure ware driver and they would not work. Appears the early ship abit air-pace used the atheros ar5006 chipset and the later use another chipset. Thus the latest drivers would not work, but crash my system. No where on the Abit support site did it mentioned the chipset change!!
Once I figured out by looking at the drivers on my xp system that worked I noticed they were AW5006.. Totaly different than what Abit had! I Googled atheros and I Found a site in CZ (http://www.atheros.cz/). They had a list of atheros drivers and once I got them down loaded and installed,my wireless worked! I did have to force windows7 to use them . The warning came up saying this did not match or something like that.

I can see you have been working on this problem for awhile now.

Ok, I tried what you said to do, and I'm still getting the same "Maybe a problem with driver...Windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter." crap. When I hover the mouse over the connection icon in the tray it says something along of the lines of no connections found, whereas before all this stuff it picked them up immediately. I would try to system restore, but it seems that it was turned off when I installed windows - and the rollback driver button is no longer enabled because of uninstalling the driver before installing the next one. Also, this may not be related, but the microsoft miniport adapter that was listed before is gone.

P.S. I have a desktop, in case there are troubleshooting differences.

Forever ongoing network issues..
Also, that problem was back when the adapter was actually functioning correctly ;)

I pretty much just learned to live with the rather...disappointing...speeds.

Edit: I know now that it isn't the drivers, I was able to restore the drivers back to before I messed with them at all - and it still doesn't work. It just shows the red X and "no connections found" in the lower right hand corner, when I know for a fact there are 4 or 5 around me all with 80% strength or so.

I kinda have the same issue as you.
I have a Atheros AR5006EXS in my fujitsu t4215. im have read that it is suppose to be a really good card, but in windows 7 in sucks.

I am able to get a a decent "FAIR" signal when i am in the same room with the router, but when i step into the next room the signal is gone. It can barely detect networks around the area.

I am using the latest drivers as well, 8.0.0.239. I have also tried 8.0.0.177, 8.0.0.238, and the 7.x.x.xxx. All the drivers yeild the same results Finding drivers for Atheros is a pain, since Atheros does not actually provide drivers. I do not think Windows 7 supports Atheros.

I just want to know is this an compatibility issue?

anyways i given up on the Atheros and bought a Intel 4965agn and will tell you about it, when it comes. they are cheap off ebay $13-$20, and has an 3rd antenna port. I am assuming with the correct drivers and an extra antenna, i should be able to pick up signals from houses away anywhere, HAHAHAHAHA
