Wireless is connecting persistently to an unsecured access point, even when set to manual. It frequently shows Connected from the task tray, even though its entry stills shows a Connect button, rather than Disconnect button.
This began after intentionally connecting to a remote public AP with my Xfinity account; registered the AP as Public (as opposed to Home or Work). I had to change my wireless adaptor from Google DNS back to DHCP DNS temporarily to sign in and authenticate my MAC address with Xfinity.
Since then, I have tried adding it as automatic, then setting it back to manual - but it still connects.
I tried deleting it from Network Locations and from Manage Wireless Networks several times.
Have tried deleting it from the windows registry manually and rebooting.
Suggestions?
UPDATE 01: Have found this is now happening to all wireless networks. Its as if all networks are being treated as automatic and/or another wireless manager is in control.
