Wireless Connection Issue - Takes long time to connect

Hi everyone, would appreciate any help given here.

I have just bought a new laptop (specs below), and everything on it is working well except the wireless connectivity.
On startup, every program loads quickly (within 10 seconds), and there is absolutely no lag.
However, the wireless adapter does not connect to my network, even though it is displayed in the taskbar dialog box. Only after a good while (on average, 5 minutes) does it connect to the network automatically. Before that, if you tried to do it manually, it would just say, "Windows cannot connect to (network name)."
Even though the connection is strong and stable after connection, it is extremely irritating having to wait that long every startup just for a wireless connection.

Specs:
Model - HP Pavilion dv6-7105tx
Processor - Intel i7-3630QM, 2.4 GHz
RAM - 8 GB (upgraded from 4 GB)
Graphics - Nvidia GeForce GT 650M (2 GB gDDR5 dedicated)
Wireless Adapter - Broadcom 4313GN 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi Adapter

Thanks in advance! :)

I would first check for a driver update.

What A/V are you using?

How far away is your wireless access point?

When you first log on what IP address do you have. Before it connects?

Open command prompt
Click start orb type cmd
Once command prompt opens type
Ipconfig /all

Post the output.

Are any other wireless computers having this issue?

I've updated all drivers, even tried installing an older one (crazy, I know) - didn't solve the problem.
I use Norton 360, didn't have a problem with that on my old laptop.
My router is just a few meters away, so shouldn't be a problem.
No other computers are having this issue, just my laptop.

ipconfig /all result:

Uninstalling Norton 360 doesn't help. The problem still persists.. I'm starting to think that the wireless card itself is faulty.

Go into your wireless adapter advanced settings look for power management and disable it.

Nope, still doesn't work.

On a sidenote, I found that the DVD player only starts at the exact same time when my wireless adapter decides to connect to the network. Before that, it is unable to play DVDs. Could this be related?

Possibly.

Go into your power options > edit current Plan.

Click change advanced power settings.

go to wireless adapter settings set it to maximum performance.

Just to point this out, if the wireless driver was an up to date Windows 7 certified driver then the Msoft Virtual WiFi miniport adaptor would be showing up. Windows update might even have a newer one for you. Always Visit Windows update if you have a new system first thing.

Since it's a new laptop I'd also have to go into add/remove programs and uninstall every last piece of bloatware that was preinstalled on this system, the HP wireless connection software can also cause problems but updating the driver might take care of that.

Good luck with this one parman.
