I am in the process of getting a router to connect to my modem which is ADSL2+ so I can get my notebook connected to the internet. I have a friend who tells me that I should lock the wireless connection as passers by can use my account to connect and use my download limit and gain access to my personal information. How can I stop this if it is true?

Does your modem have a wireless capability? If so, there should be a book/leaflet that came with the device called "User manual", refer to that to secure your wireless access point. Look for "WPA" or "WPA2" in that book/leaflet.

Hi, My modem is not a wifi one and that is why I am getting a wireless router. I will wait until it arrives (bought on Ebay) and then see what happens. Thanks!
and when you get it,put it into security (wpa2 ) and use a combination of alphabet and multi characters (@#$_%^) whatever it is to secure your password more
