wireless connection problem after start-up

I'm having trouble connecting to my wireless modem after I startup my laptop. The first few times it fails to connect even though the connection bars are full. It won't connect automatically and offers me to troubleshoot. I then try to connect manually a few times. Still it won't connect for a couple of times even though the connection bar is fully green and the password is correct. After about 10 times trying manually it finally connects and I can internet problem free the entire time without loosing connection.

It only seems to happen when I try to connect the first time. Whenever I startup the laptop and try to go on the internet. I often have to try it a couple of times and after a few failed attempts it finally connects and then the problems are over. My laptop uses a Broadcom 802.11n adapter and it doesn't find any more recent drivers so it's not an update issue. It also isn't a modem issue cause it happens not only at home but also at when I'm using the laptop on other places with other wireless modems.

What could be causing this? I've checked for virusses and it doesn't find any. Any more things I could check for?

What can cause this type of problem is various programs like A/V software installed by the user causing connection problems that you might not be aware of. User installed VPN's and various network interfaces are the most likely cause.

If you can post a screen of your ipconfig/all it would be helpful. :)

In addition please update your broadcom wireless card drivers to the latest by downloading them from the computer manufacturer's website or vendor website.

Attached my ipconfig list. I also went to the control panel and tried to update the Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter 5.60.18.8 driver, but it said it could find any. Also went to broadcom.com but couldn't find any wireless 802.11n drivers at all? Or maybe I''m looking at the wrong places...

But anyway, any clue on how I can improve the initial connection? 'Automatic' hardly works. Most of the time I have to do it manual about ten times before it finally connects and than stays connected without any problems. Don't have any VPN or any extra network interfaces that I know of...

No real problems with the ipconfig, perhaps if you could fill out your system specs we could look for a better driver.

Yes the Broadcom driver for Windows 7 appears to be down the page a bit in the link below.

Windows update sometimes has updated drivers or the manufacture's web site is another good place to look for them. These drivers should work better for you and you might want to think about updating all drivers for your machine.

Alas, updating the drivers didn't help. Thought it did the first time, but I guess sometimes it connects faster then other times. Today I manually had try to connect again for about 15 times. I chose 'make connection' (had 'automatic' checked but that didn't do anything), got the 'making connection' popup and after a few seconds the 'can't make a connection' popup with the troubleshooting option. Tried to do that, but it couldn't find a solution.

Basically, nothing has changed. I still have to do a few manual tries before it finally connects. And when it does I can internet without problems. My other netbook and iphone work just fine. Tried to turn off wifi on my iphone. Thought perhaps that would work against it, but no results.

Any other areas I could check before I hand it over to my computer repair shop to perhaps replace the wireless adapter?

To determine if this problem is caused by an installed program or A/V software, you should start up in safe mode with networking and see if the problem persists or not.

A repair shop won't waste any time trying to fix this problem, they will only save your files and reinstall the Op system charging you a small fortune for doing something that you can easily do yourself.

You can also try clearing out some files which can cause this wireless connection start up problem to occur. The link below shows you how.

It should also help to define the wireless settings in the wireless manager in the Network and Sharing Center. The auto settings don't always work for this.
