Testing broadband speed through a wireless connection won't give you accurate results and will always show up slower than a wired connection. Your machine is already wireless N capable.

Yes I have broadband and have done these tests with my own machines.

What you are seeing is perfectly normal and updating the wireless card won't really help here as you are already using wireless N.

You may be able to squeeze a bit more out of it if you change your router to use 802.11N Only setting and use channel bonding plus make sure the connection is 5 bars. :)

Buy a wireless N adapter and plug in a USB port... but the router has to be N also.

Hi willoc, This will explain the wireless standards for you to have a better understanding Wireless Network Speeds - How Fast Is a Wi-Fi Network? , If your wireless modem is only "G" rated you will not be able to acheive the full speed that your laptops wireless card can reach :(
