Ok let me lead into this by saying that i have done several searches with no luck on fixing my wireless issues. I recently upgraded my OS to windows 7 (x64) from windows vista (x64). installation went smooth excluding my wireless issues. I have already verified that it is not my router. I have 3 computers and they all run just fine (other 2 are still on vista and they are running fine. I connected my computer to router directly with a cable and the internet connection is fine. Just to be on the safe side i upgraded my wireless routers firmware to the newest version (made no difference) and also verified that all my drivers were up to date (they were). went into command and did the route delete 0.0.0.0 thing, as well as many other things that people have recommended to others (who i thought had the same issue as me).

My laptop connect to wireless fine but runs extremely slow. When running speed tests i have downloads around 2megabits (not bytes). When connected to directly i download around 25.

My laptop is a HP g70-467CL
All windows updates preformed (excluding language packs)

Router is a d-link DIR-655
latest firmware done. (WPA2)

any suggestions of things you think i may need to do / havnt done?

My first thoughts would be to suspect either bad drivers or possibly interference from your antivirus ?

drivers is a matter of experimenting with versions and AV try uninstalling and run a test ?

If your running Norton this could be the problem ?

It could also possibly be the router not dealing well with WIFI and to check this run a speedtest with your laptop on someone else's router ?

also try disabling IPv6 on your NIC

thanks for your help. googling (trying to find out what driver i needed) i actually came across a driver for atheros (the card in my computer) made for a different computer. uploaded it anyway, thinking it couldn't make things worse. and miraculously its working perfectly now.
