Hi,

I just bought a Trust Thinity wireless media keyboard. It comes with no disc or drivers and the usb receiver is just plug and play.
When I plug it in it gives me the message "One of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned...."
If I keep unplugging and plugging back in it eventually picks up the drivers and installs, unitil I switch off my computer and then its back to square one.

All my motherboard drivers are up to date and bios is on latest version. Iv tryed uninstalling all my USB controllers and restarting. Iv even installed a fresh copy of Win7 64bit and 32bit to see if that made any difference but it hasnt.

The keyboard is brand new and I have tryed it on XP and it picked it up, installed the drivers and worked straight away.

Has anybody had any issue like this?

Thanks
Shaun

Have you tried all of this:

"
To solve Installation problems with Trust products, follow below steps.
IMPORTANT: After every step, wait 20 seconds and check if the problem is solved.

  1. Check the manual to see if another installation step is needed (like installing drivers/software ) and do this step.
  2. Connect the Trust product to another USB port.
  3. Connect the Trust product not to a hub, but directly to the computer (and vise versa)
  4. Remove any other USB device from the computer.
  5. Remove* any old drivers related to the same kind of product.
  6. Run Windows Update and restart PC.
  7. Keep internet connection enabled when connecting the Trust product.
  8. Update the drivers of your motherboard (consult with your computer manufacturer to find out how)
* To remove old drivers, follow these steps

  • Click the Windows Start button.
  • Click "Control Panel"
  • Click "Programs/Uninstall"
  • Select the old driver in the list.
  • Click "Uninstall"
When none of these steps are working, try your product on another computer.
If this solves the problem, consult with the manufacturer of your computer to solve the issue."

From the keyboards website.

Hi, Yes I followed the website but there is nothing wrong with the keyboard itself as it wouldnt work on XP and intermittentley on Win7. I just tryed the tutorial on deleting the INFCACHE.1 file, but had no luck with that either.

Thansk for your quick response, any other ideas?

When you say "I tried it on XP" do you mean another PC?

If it is recognized and works straight away on another PC but you need to "jiggle" the adapter to get it to work on the W7 PC then I would think the USB port you plugged it into it not connecting properly. Have you tried a different USB port?

Is this problem computer a laptop?

Regardless, also check this out: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/147369-usb-selective-suspend-turn-off.html
Try toggling the setting on and of to see if it makes a difference.

Yes sorry I tryed it on our home computer running XP pro and it worked instantly.
It is a computer I built myself this year, iv tryed all the usb ports and its the same thing every time.
Iv just had a play with the selective suspend and still no luck, very frustrating

Next time I get it linked up, im going to just put the computer in sleep or hibernate mode and see if it keeps the drivers installed.

Thanks for your help

Is the keyboard charged up? This can take 8-16 hours. Also, how far away from the dongle is the keyboard?
