Wireless mouse / keyboard question

I am using a Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro Keyboard & Mouse on my new computer, including the Logitech SeyPoint software. On two occasions, the computer quickly put itself into standby mode, I believe without my having asked it to do so. Also, on a small number of occasions, I have seen other weird behavior - a new email window opening, etc., again things I do not believe I did.

My question is this: Is it possible that the wireless receiver is somehow receiving some signal causing the computer to act oddly? Seems highly unlikely - too many things need to be 'just right' to make this happen. Could there be some other program causing these odd behaviors? I am quite certain that my system is malware free, so this again seems unlikely. Or is this probably just operator error?

GRoston, have you tried moving the receiver closer to the mouse and see if it still happens? That is also a long shot, but simple to try
I would anyway scan the computer using different programs. Malwarebytes is highly recommended here.

Receiver is quite close as is, less than two feet. Will try another AV package, but seems unlikely.

Hi GRoston,

I have a Logitech Wave keyboard and Logitech MX Revolution mouse and they both work fine under Windows 7.

If you haven't done so, you can lock the keyboard so the signals aren't interfered with under the setpoint software. Here's a screenshot.



Just follow the instructions.

sygnus21 - you must have a newer version of the software as mine does not have the tab you are showing. I'll take a look on the Logitech site later tonight.

Actually, I have the older version (4.80) as I've not yet updated to the 6.0 version under Windows 7 yet. But I did upgrade under Vista and 6.0 does have the security feature as well.

sygnus21 - this is weird. I had 4.8 installed and just upgraded to 6.0 and I still don't have this option. Is it possible that this feature is not supported with my keyboard (which I would find very odd given that it is one of the high end models)?

Your software says "Wave 2.4, ours (derekimo and me) says Wave Cordless Keyboard. It appears you have the newer wave keyboard.

As you stated, you have the Cordless Desktop® Wave Pro? I (we) have the Cordless Desktop Wave?

Your keyboard uses the advanced 2.4GHz wireless signal which may be why you don't have the security feature as Logitech may not deem it necessary for that keyboard. That's the only thing I can think of for it not being there.

As to the initial issue, other than what I suggested, I have no clue. Sorry

Perhaps the other suggestions would be worth exploring, especially moving the reciever around.

Edit: It appears derekimo has found something of interest that you may want to look into.
