I'm not sure if i should upgrade to wireless n. G has speed up to 54mbps and the highest you can get in the uk is 20mbps. Apparently n is better if a lot of computers are connected to the router t a time. What if 2 pcs and 2 ipod touch's are connected. Will n speed up my connection? or will it be the same
Is it worth buying 2 more wireless n adapters and can wireless n routers send g and n signal. Thanks

I always say upgrade if you can... If money is real tight, you can live without it I'm sure....

Since it's always hard to get to theoretical maximums anyway, removing all of the bottlenecks usually makes a noticeable difference... Meaning, even though you say 20mbs is max, you still would probably notice a speed increase, especially with more devices connected...

Basically, for me, it's never fast enough...

The simple answer in your case...it's not worth it. If you're thinking about having faster Internet access to all your wireless PCs/devices, you're already limited to 20Mbps...and the 54Mbps 'g' router exceeds that with ease.

(While it's true that two clients transferring data simultaneously from the Internet would each be limited to roughly half of the 54Mbps bandwidth, they'll also have to share the Internet bandwidth and come out at about 10Mbps each.)

However: if you were to replace all wireless adapters and the router with 'n'-capable devices, you would gain a massive speed increase within your local network, that is, when transferring data directly between any of the connected clients. This will only apply if at least one client is using the wireless connection. If the transfer is going exclusively through Ethernet cable connections, the wireless interface won't apply at all.

Very welcome. You do realize of course that in 10 years 'n' will be ancient. ;)
