I've got Windows 7 Professional and I've been having trouble with my wireless network. I can connect with the network but it always gives me a "No Internet Access" message and I can't use the internet. I try release/renew connections using ipconfig which sometimes work but mostly only briefly. What usually works is attempting to connect to the wireless router through my web browser but if it does work it's slow. I am able to get a second wireless network in range and that was working consistently however now it is giving me the same trouble. My primary network has also been extremely slow (under a third of the normal speeds and three-four times the latency time). I have a second PC using Windows 7 Pro and I have the same trouble. My landlords bought a range extender because the signal is week in my apartment (an apartment behind the garage at their house, not a complex) which works to boost the signal but I don't know if it's contributing to the trouble or just not broadcasting the signal correctly. I'm running a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4201 with the built-in Intel wireless antenna.
Can anyone help with this? I'm excellent with computers but networks are not my strongest suit.
Ok lets see... Modem is a 2Wire 2701HG-D with built in wireless, extender is a Linksys WRE54G Wireless-G Range Extender, wireless card is Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG
1. have you checked the Sig to noise ratio?
2. What power do you have the 2wire set at. (default is 5).
3. I suggest that for all the tests, you pick 1 (ONE) COMPUTER, and stick with it... you go swapping 2 or what ever the problem might never be fixed.
I have 2Wire 2701 HG-B Modem with Wireless.
can you draw a schetch of the network. Like Master INPUT to x wire link to x & x &x & wireless to x . approximate distance. between ea.
Can you fill in your SPECS completely. the more the better.
If there is no issues with your wireless connection to your network (that is you are connected to your network), than more than likely it's your router's connection to your ISP. Power off and on your router again and see if you can connect to the web.
So… I searched these forums for days because I changed my cable modem and my Linksys wireless router (WRT54G) stopped working. It was connected to the network but with no internet access.
I tried everything suggested and this is one of the posts I read so I wanted to let the next person know what worked for me… DON’T LAUGH! Seriously the only thing I hadn’t tried was using the Linksys installation CD.
Once I ran the installation CD it was good as new!
