Wireless printer cannot see IP address

Hi.

I'm running windows 7 ultimtae 32bit.

I would get my HP C4380 connected to my computer.

I can see the MAC address for the printer in the router, but I cannot see it's
IP address.

What could be reason(s) for this behaviour ?

HI Darkhorse,

Check whether your firewall has allowed file and print sharing if not open the windows firewall from control panel and tick file and print sharing so you could be able to connect to it.

Thank you very much for your reply.

At the time of installing the printersoftware, I had not any security software running. So I doubt it's the firewall that's making fun.

Where is the file and printer sharing to be found in firewall ?

You may download and run AdvancedIpScanner to find out your Printer's IP and Mac Address. You may access the IP thru a URL, similar to your router for ex. http://192.168.1.11

Thank you for your reply. I have downloaded and ran the IP scanner.
But I cannot see the IP nor the Mac address for the printer.

As mentioned, I cna see the printer's Mac address on the router.

Which IP is it you mean with the example?. The IP of the printer
If so, I cannot find it.

BTW, now I cannot even see the Mac address for the printer on the router.

Could that be the IP scanner, that has done that ?

With the HP Wi-Fi printers you should run the CD (or downloaded drivers) for the unit from the pc you are trying to install it on. You will get a prompt to setup the printer via USB or NETWORK. Select "network" it will search for the printer and should show it in the list, then follow the prompts.

But the MAC address should be printed on the back of the printer on a small sticker ....
Alternately you could
Press the Setup button on the product control panel.
Navigate to the Network Config , and then press OK . The Network Configuration Page should print, and this will show the MAC address

But how to gain the IP address from the MAC address ?

Pls try re-typing the WPA passphrase on the printer.
Also you may always manually edit the Subnet or IPs of the printer from the printer's menu itself. Pls see Pooman's post on how to access the printer's main control panel.

Perhaps that's one of the issues. Pls read below the print screen about applying the WPA passphrase. Is your wireless network secured with WEP, WPA or WPA2?

Is the printer set to auto detect DHCP?

Do a network printout and have a look at what IP it has picked up (or do you already know)?

Please look at the screenshot I sent above this. It shows the network printout.
Yes the printer is set to auto detect DHCP.
The MAC address si visible, but the IP never came up during the install

As I never got the network window up during the install, I have not entered the WPA pass phrase.
The network is secured with WPA2

As can bee viewed, ther IP has not been found.

Due to security I deleted the MAC addresses on the shot

Have you tried giving it Static IP?

Nope he means on the printer pal. If you go to the printer network settings you should be able to enter the IP address manually in your case you would enter 192.168.1.X (X being any number that isn't in use by another device) subnet mask would be 255.255.255.0 and the gateway would be the routers IP address
