I am in the market for a laptop which of course will be wireless. I have a wired router and network. I have a Linksys router model BEFSR41 which has 4 ports on the back to plug in my desktops, two of them are open.

The comcast installation person who is contracted to Comcast told me that this router would send wireless signal and all I had to do was use one of the ports on the back.

How do I do that, if in fact that is correct. What do I need to create a wireless signal to my laptop from this router.

I have Linksys Cable Model also model # REFCMU10.

It looks like the connections on the back of my router are for ethernet.

Thanks for this information. I thought this installer was wrong but needed to know for sure. The reason I thought he was wrong is I had to tell him some things about the installation.

I would like to have the model you suggested because it will stack on top of my linksys cable modem. Am I right in that I can connect 4 wired computers to it along with the wireless laptop?

Hes Contracted.. No one who is contracted are experts, sorry not possible.

We have charter here in my area comcast and charter have some agreement to stay out of one an others area, Well around here its all Charter Contracted "experts" they come out and installed our TV and internet. Did it all Wrong, we had to have someone From charter themselves out here to fix it. Instead of wiring everything from the Box outside they ran more splitters and things under the house Which is incorrect, Neatless to say we have a bunch of Noise on or TV's we get a lovely ground loop when i play the playstation 3 on one of the tv's If i disconnect the charter tv COax the humming goes away.

The guy argued with me telling me this was my ps3, now if it goes away when i remove their coax cable how in the **** can it be my ps3? haha its a trip man...
