Are you running homegroup?

What make and model is the router?

What is network magic?

It might be worth trying the beta network magic version 5.5 although it's not fully tested with Windows 7 as yet and other have reported problems using the older versions of network magic with Windows 7 for quite a while now.

not running homegroup anymore, router is an wrt54gs2, and network magic is a cisco app. that helps you with your network.

Yes and there are many complaints about network magic not working correctly with Windows 7 which is why I suggested that you try the beta version 5.5. :)
