First post so please bear with me -

I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my desktop and have been having connection problems ever since.

Using a wireless N router, my other two laptops running XP and Vista have no issues connecting, but occasionally get dropped from the network also.

It will connect maybe 5% of the time it, but it usually kicks out within a couple of minutes. I have all the latest drivers for my wireless network adapter.

There have been a few instances where I was able to connect for long periods with a fast connection, but again it will eventually kick me out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Dauslyn, welcome to the forums

Can you give us details and model for your router and your wireless LAN card? if you can fill in your full specs (left lower corner of your post) that is the best.

tks

On mixed networks (XP,vista, win 7) you should be using workgroup, not homegroup. Are you running homegroup?

Run the inSSIDer program to see what all channels are in use around you. Maybe choose a different channel for less outside interferance.

Built this PC in 2003, and it has served me very well since then. I feel its time to build a new system, so that is what brought me here.
No doubt a channel crossover problem once again I agree.

unfortunately I'm not near the computer in question so I can't fill in the full specs right now, I will as soon as I can.

Sorry I'm a total noob when it comes to networking - what's the difference between homegroup and workgroup, and how can I tell which one I'm using?

Thanks for your replies!
