Would it be wise to get a free upgrade to W10 or to purchase a retail copy?

Hello Alexey,

It really depends on what your needs are.

If you don't mind not having your Windows 7 installed while the free upgrade to Windows 10 is installed, then that would be a good way to go to save money.

If you need to have your Windows 7 running in addition to Windows 10, then you will need to purchase a retail copy unless you have a second Windows 7 key to use to activate Windows 7 with instead.

Question: Does that mean if I do the free W10 upgrade, my W7 key is no longer valid if I want to go back to W7?

No. It's the same for any upgrade copy. You just can't activate Windows 7 while you have the upgrade Windows 10 installed and activated.

You will always be able to uninstall Windows 10, and use your Windows 7 afterwards if you like. :)

It was just a thought, am very satisfied with W7 and if needed would purchase a retail copy of W10, upgrades are occasionally buggy too.
