Wish list for a smaller smarter Windows 8.

1) Make Windows 8 one (1) DVD with all versions on it. You install what you have a license for. I am so tired and frustrated when you have to find the correct DVD or have to download it from TechNet to do a repair install. Microsoft has done this with Windows Server 2008 R2 do it with the workstation as well. (Yes there are hacks/procedures to do this on you own with workstation or questionable ISO on the internet; I want it direct from Microsoft so you know it is done correctly.)

2) On the above note give us a lot of choices on that first install menu.
Windows 8 PE --> to Disk --> Burn CD --> Create ISO --> to USB Drive
Windows 8 VDI --> to Disk --> Burn CD (VL Only) --> Create ISO (VL Only) --> to USB Drive
Windows 8 Kiosk --> to Disk --> Burn CD (VL Only) --> Create ISO (VL Only) --> to USB Drive
Windows 8 Starter
Windows 8 Home --> normal --> slim
Windows 8 Professional --> normal OR --> slim Then --> enterprise (different install) --> small business (different install) --> home user w/Network (different install) --> home user w/Network and server (different install) --> home user 1 PC (different install)
Windows 8 Ultimate --> enterprise (different install) --> small business (different install) --> home user w/Network (different install) --> home user w/Network and server (different install) --> home user 1 PC (different install)
Windows 8 Enterprise --> normal --> slim
(Enterprise extras: RDP 2 sessions w\console logon {like Server}; internet RDP via your enterprise secure server or Microsoft Hosted {like TeamViewer or hamachi}; locked workstation force logoff with SAVE & EXIT running documents; theft/disgruntle lockout and/or disable machine and/or release licenses; Enable/Disable Virtual Software install with full logging {User without Admin Right can install software, when machine reboots no traces of software}; accept hidden password in VBScript as well as in all admin functions and command line utilities.)

--> = options after OS type is selected.

Thoughts???

Umm...This is already the case, has been since Windows Vista. On the Windows 7 iso remove ei.cfg and you now have access to every single version...well almost. 32bit and 64bit come on different DVDs.

And your second wish thing is just way to complicated.

I think Microsoft should just ABANDON the idea of DIFFERENT OS's versions. No more Home Premium, and Professional. Just sell Ultimate. Much better... (T . T)

Will never happen. The consumer users don't need everything the corporate users need, thus Home and Professional. Ultimate is merely a combination of both.

They could sell just Ultimate as the one version, and when installing, choose what features you want. Basic, for average home use, and Advanced , extra features for business uses.

But then that's kinda just stating your 1) idea now =P

And why do they sell professional...Why can't they just sell Home & Ultimate...:eek:
