With new SSD, Windows still loading something from mechanical drive

I just moved my Windows 7 partition to an SSD. While everything loads much faster, I still hear the mechanical drive being accessed on the boot logo screen and for a few seconds after the desktop appears. I have the page file, temp folder, and other system stuff all on the SSD. The only thing I think it should access on a mechanical partition is the wallpaper, but that's 2 MB max. Is there a way to have Windows log all of the files that are being accessed during boot?

It may still be looking there for some drivers and programs as well.
It's more than likely still using the bootmgr on the mechanical too.

The old Windows 7 partition is backed up and hidden on a second mechanical drive. I use GRUB, which is still on the (main/active) mechanical drive, but it has already passed control to the Windows boot loader on the SSD and shouldn't account for a lot of disk access.

Regarding drivers and programs, are you suggesting that the registry points to nonexistent items and Windows searches through all of the partitions to find them?

Anything listed in registry the system can't find will significantly slow boot time. You could try using msconfig to disable the start items on a reboot and see if your problem is reduced or removed.
