Solved WL Enterprice Drive never seems to stop doing something?

It sounds like it just seeks and seeks without anything actually running other than the Operating System.
It's really annoying and if I knew this would be the situation, I would never have installed it.
Click, click, some time, click, click, click,, some time, yikes!
Might there be a fix / solution?

Can you be more clear / specific of what the issue is?
WL Enterprice Drive? Would it be WD Enterprise Drive?

My intent was to build a Windows-7 PC to store tens of thousands of family photos on.
Essentially an archive that I could distribute to my family after I pass.
Currently I am 75.
In looking for a large disk drive, I saw an ad for a 3TB Enterprise Hard Drive, and I bought it.
After cloning to the 3TB Drive and installing it as the C: drive, the noise became quite apparent.
I have not put any pictures on it yet as I am afraid.
It never quiets down, even when there is nothing running and all applications are closed.
It's constantly doing something but who knows what.
When I say it is seeking, that is an assumption on my part.
I think the sound is from the drive, perhaps reading or checking something.
It's pop, pop, quiet for a few seconds then another sequence of popping and more seconds of quiet.
It never ends, day and night.
That's what I can tell you.
I am attaching a picture of what the Resource Monitor is seeing as I respond to your question.
This is all that I have running / open.
Any ideas or conclusions?

What brand and model is your new HDD?

I do have a WD Gold 1TB Enterprise Class Hard Disk Drive - WD1005FBYZ. It's good but does make a lot of noise.
What isn't normal is that it makes noise all the time, even when the computer isn't in use.
From the Resource Monitor it seems to be windows update searching updates. It can also be the antivirus scanning the disk.
Try to set Services - Windows update to Manual and on WU page to Never Check.

The brand is White Label from a company called GoHardDrive.
I have purchased both White Label and Western Digital drives from them over the past five years.
I have never had a problem with either drive brand or GoHardDrive.
This is what Belarc reports:
WL3000GSA6472E [Hard drive] (3000.59 GB) -- drive 0, s/n WOL240392092, rev 01.01KX1, SMART Status: Healthy
I will follow your recommendations and report back.
I use MalwareBytes Pro and MSE.

That is another issue, nothing to do with your thread (noisy disk).
It is related to communications security between Outlook 2007 and your email server (gmail, hotmail etc).

If MalwareBytes Pro is the paid version it is an active antivirus. You MUST disable MSE (if it isn't already) as it may conflict one with the other.
A WD Gold is fist grade, has 5 years warranty and cost 3 times more than the one you have.
Yours is an Amazon generic (no brand) cheap drive.
If you can't loose the data on your disk, You MUST have another disk as a backup.
I do have another disk that is inside may case but normally unplugged to the MoBo. Once a week I do all my data backup on it.

You should buy a small SSD (128G - US$25) to have Windows and programs on it and use the 3T disk only for data.
I can guide you on having Windows and programs on the SSD and moving \users to the HDD.

This is the Version of W7 that I have.
I have a generic Version that is from Microsoft.
I have an HP 'Restore' Version for 6300 and 8300 HP Compaq PC's.
I have an OEM Version from Dell.
Which one would work the best for setting up the Archive PC?
I will pause now as my wife and I need to go shopping.

You don't need a big SSD. I have a small (128G) SSD with Windows and Programs in one partition (85G) and Linux in another Partition (38G). You install windows on the SSD and move C:\Users folder to the HDD. You will have the speed of a SSD and the space of a HDD at low cost.
I can guide you as I have done it many times. (desktops and laptops)

I ordered the Crucial BX500 120GB and a WD 4TB Gold from Newegg.
I chose the 4TB as there wasn't a 3TB.
