Hello mate just for your info my partner's machine has just lost in and out messages on her WLM and I see there are updates that are needed to keep WLM going but I also have a feeling that they are trying to phase it out as she now can only get messages through on Outlook and again I think it is because of some update that has been put out. I stand to be corrected of course.:zip:

Hello to you too mate. WLM 2012 was working great until MS started messing with Outlook. MS destroyed WLM trying to get it to sync mail using the new Exchange protocol. Calendar does not work and mail does not sync. That patch KB3093594 which is Optional now, will probably be Important next Tuesday and WLM will be dead and buried.

Agree haven't downloaded that update yet myself and I did some warnings somewhere about installing it anyway. Why on earth can't they leave an unbroken wheel alone?? Typical of Microsoft and with the nonsense going on right now with 10.

WLM has worked for me for many years and frankly what I see of Outlook (we use it at work) it is a retrograde step too convoluted and difficult to navigate. Frankly I find one of the most annoying parts of it is the spell check whereas WLM checks all along the other wretch requires one to go and check otherwise you could be sending gobbledegook/Klingon:sarc:

Me I am trying Linux Mint MATE soon to see if it can do things without the bullying

Now finally an investigation and some information on Outlook and WLM 2012. It is broken.

Windows Live Mail woes continue with re-re-released KB 3093594 | InfoWorld

This latest version of KB 3093594 has been accused of slowing Windows Live Mail to a standstill and "losing" both sent mail and folders. It looks as though the Jan. 8 version of KB 3093594 is the same as the Dec. 17 version of KB 3093594, which was designed to fix the Dec. 14 version of KB 3093594 but failed miserably.

If you let WU install this update, it does not show up on installed updates, so you can not uninstall it. Nuts!

If you let WU install this update [KB 3093594], it does not show up on installed updates, so you can not uninstall it. Nuts!

Possibly it can be removed by uninstalling and then reinstalling Windows Live Mail.

Open Control Panel and click on "Programs and Features" icon.
Find Windows Essentials 2012 in the programs list. Click on it and then click on "Uninstall/Change" button.
The setup wizardopens and asks you to remove or repair the program. Click on "Remove one or more Windows Essentials programs" option.
Select Mail program from the list. Uncheck other programs if you want to keep them on your computer. Click on Uninstall button and it'll uninstall Windows Live Mail 2012.

Download Windows Essentials (English)
Code:
http://wl.dlservice.microsoft.com/download/C/1/B/C1BA42D6-6A50-4A4A-90E5-FA9347E9360C/en/wlsetup-all.exe

Run Windows Essentials setup installer and click on "Choose the programs you want to install" option.

Now select Mail program and click on Install button. It'll install Windows Live Mail again on your computer.

Launch the Mail program and since the KB3093594 update was automatically removed when you uninstalled Windows Live Mail program, now your Outlook and other Microsoft email accounts "should" sync properly in Windows Live Mail 2012 program.

Uninstalling and reinstalling to a previous release of WLM 2012 does not fix the mail sync problem. There is no sync between Hotmail and Live accounts with Outlook and WLM 2012 under the previous release because the protocols are different. Uninstalling and reinstalling the previous release only removes the patch that was supposed to fix the sync problem. But tnx for your input - at least it removes the additional problems caused by KB3093594.

@Callender, I was aware of those settings, but tnx for posting them. They are the appropriate IMAP settings.

As MS rolls out the replacement for Outlook.com to Outlook Preview, it is the server protocol that will have to be changed to allow the accounts to sync. The rollout is already underway and is supposed to continue into March 2016. MS has decided that patch KB3093594 is the tool to do that.

Yes well my partners machine I was thinking of a reinstall bit seems like that is out and it is well and truly broken thanks to the folks at Redmond & Co I reckon all in all they are making a real pigs ear out of the Windows system. Sad thing is that we are pushed from pillar to post with just about anything they have ever put out - and paying for the privilege:sarc:
