WLM checking mail for 1 minute

I received an email about a required update to my mail to keep it working with coming changes to Windows. I checked the source as well as I could and it looked legit, so I downloaded and installed the update. Now I find that when I start Live Mail, it spends about 60 seconds checking mail - about 4-5 times as long as it used to, even when there is no new mail.

My Windows is 7 Ultimate, and WLM is 2012 build 16.4.3563.0918.

My anti-virus software (Avast and Superantispyware) find no bugs present.

Have I been caught out, and do I need to back out the update (how?), or re-install WLM?

Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike,

The patch has been causing issues with WLM on some PC's. I had it installed on mine and seems okay but I've seen reports of it causing problems and isn't necessarily needed with all accounts.

My advice, do a system restore to roll back to the previous WLM version then wait for a few weeks to see if you do actually need the patch.
If WLM continues to work, then you won't need it.
The email MS sent isn't very clearly written.
