WLM constantly updating, not receiving. Should I change ports?

My wife has three accounts on her WLM. A few days ago one of the accounts (the default one) became erratic. Sometimes it received mail, other times it did not. When that one account (but not the others) stopped receiving mail, I "repaired" and uninstalled via the control panel to no avail. I tried slightly earlier versions of WLM 2011, 2009 and had the same problem.

Do I need to change the port number to receive? She's now using incoming IMAP port 143. She uses Charter.net for email and when she logs into the Charter website to receive mail, it's there online, but not in her WLM.

We could switch her to Thunderbird, but fear we would have the same issue we're having with the main, default mail account.

Hi Mark,

If its possible, change Charter.net to be accessible using POP3, this will fix your problem.
How are the other 2 accounts used IMAP or POP.
