I turned on the computer today and apart from a handful of emails from 2012 all my emails have gone.
This is an IMAP account so the emails are stored locally as eml files. The emails are still on the server so I've recreated the account and managed to get some back (from current to around mid 2014)
What I'd like to know is how this happened, there's no way I would have deleted them manually and they're not in the relevant folder on my computer. There are no previous versions of the folder to restore either btw.
Also, where have the eml files gone? They're not in the recycle bin.
Could it be a rouge AV? (AVG)
Just seems strange that nearly everything was gone apart from a few emails.
Any help would be appreciated.
