WLM,Gmail and Junk Mail

I use Gmail as my primary mail service. I have been using Outlook and Outlook Express but am now trying Windows Live Mail (AKA WLM). The difference I have between the Outlook programs and WLM is that WLM brings in the JUNK mail that Gmail puts a Junk Mail Folder and it does not delete the messages in Gmail that have been down loaded.

I have tried correcting the Gmail settings but have not found a solution. I would like to have WLM to act like the other programs by not down loading the Junk mail and deleting the downloaded mail from Gmail.com.

Any suggestions?

Advanced Properties of the POP3 account settings for gmail should have "leave copy of mail on server" UNchecked. I'm not using gmail but my ISP has a quarantine folder for spam. When I tell WLM to sync my POP3 ISP account, it does not download anything from from the spam folder. I noticed gmail provides the settings for Windows Mail here: Windows Mail - Gmail Help but doesn't have any new information for WLM (which should probably be the same).

WLM would not allow me to change to POP, it will only run as IMAP but I found the solution to my problem.

Under Junk Mail/Safety Options I changed to No Automatic Filtering and it's now working the same as Outlook, not downloading from the Junk Mail folder and deleting from the Inbox mail that has been downloaded. Found the answer under Gmail Help Windows Mail.
