Solved WLM message, attachment size

According to my server, the total size of an email message, including headers, text, formatting, and file attachments, cannot exceed 15 MB.

I had to send files today that totaled 11.4 MB, but the reported size was over 15 MB. In WLM, do headers, text (only about 25 words) and formatting really add 4+ MB to a message size?

Does WLM itself have a limit on email message attachment size or total size? And can any of this be customized?

I don't have an answer as to why, but yes, I see the same thing. I created a small email, WLM 2011 showed it as 10K, then I attached a 15MB file, and bingo, WLM shows the email is now 21MB. And when I send it, I get an error that the server says it is too big.

Strange....I don't have any other email client I could try to see if the same thing happens with it. Wish I had an answer for you, but.....

I sent a 30 MB .wav file attached to a message to another email account, and WLM 2011 did break it up into 5 smaller messages. Unfortunately, WLM split the file into 5 .dat files, so the breakup option doesn't really work for me with just one or two huge files that get broken into smaller pieces--no way to put 'em back together again! I suppose the breakup works with smaller files that remain in tact but just get separated into different messages.

Good lesson learned, though: Keep it under 10 MB.
