Hi

In Windows Live Mail -

After doing search in all mail, I get a list of mails where the searched string was found.

How can I know the folder of a specific mail in the list ?

Thanks !!

Thanks for reply.

Properties -> general shows "Location : All email " (which is my search filter)

This is not the folder where the email message is located.

Any other idea ?

Thank you !

You're right. I usually search within a folder and if I can't find something I move the search up to a higher level folder. The search results should be displayed with the same column headers you have set for all email. If one of those headers is "Account" that should narrow it down somewhat.

Also, if you inspect the message and know where it should be placed you could search that folder to see if it is or right-click on it and select "move to".

You could also right-click on it and select "mark as unread" to make it appear in bold type so it would be easier to find. Similarly, you could just "flag" it.

If you're trying to test a Message Rule, you could move the message to a the Inbox of the account it arrived in and use the message rule to move it to see if it worked.

The reason i ask is because I did search for a specific email

search in all email folders found the email, but I could not locate in which folder it is actually located

So I tried to search folder by folder, and the email was not found.

I am not using "Storage Folders"

Any idea where can this email be found ?

It must be in some folder under some account. As I suggested above, make it bold or flag it in the search results list to make it stand out when you view your individual folders. Also if you organize the folder columns "by date" you could look under the corresponding time period, assuming the search results and folders include the date column header.

I did - with no success....

The mail could not be found in any folder.

after I moved it from the search results list, it is there.....

thanks anyway

p.s. ( I think that WLM should display the folder name in the Properties > Location...)
