WLM signs out when I plug my usb memory stick in?

Hi, recently my Windows Live Messenger has started signing out when I plug my USB memory stick in. Theres no virus or anything as I've scanned and formatted the memory stick.

Any help on how I can fix this? It's becoming quite annoying.

Does this happen with any thumb drive, or just one specific one?

All of them I think, it's done it with two different ones so far.

First make a system restore point if things go wrong. From the control panel,.. go to programs....Windows Live essentials and uninstall messenger and then install again..
