Need more info? Steps taken to set it up? At what point you run into problems? What is your tuner connected to, cable box, satellite receiver, etc?

thanks for the reply, after various uninstalls/reinstalls of the driver and database files in WMC i have got it to work (sort of) when MC scans for the guide info still unable to find any for my postcode but it finds some channels (only 7) although when i connect it to my laptop running the same OS it finds 16? the dongle is connected via antenna cable to a wall socket to an outside aerial which is the same as my TV which picks up all avaiable channels

If you go into the Guide section you can edit the channels used. Right click and select edit channels and you can manually add and remove from there. Can't help you with the actual channel guide info though. Is that a hybrid tuner? Are your on air stations analog or digital or some of each?

i'm not sure if it's a hybrid tuner.... but if i find out the frequency of other undiscovered channels can i add them manually in the guide?

All you need is the channel number. That's all I used. I found Media center a real pain to setup. I have a cable box but my remote isn't an IRblaster. If I select Cable Box as the source I get a no compatible remote found and it won't let me finish the live TV setup. If I set the input as antenna it finishes the setup but the default channels it sets up are no good. Channel 3 which is what my cable box outputs on wasn't listed. I added channel 3 and deleted all the rest. I don't get any guide info for that channel but I don't need it anyway, I use the guide on my cable box. I have digital cable TV and have to use the set top cable box. It filters the channel based on what ones I paid for. My tuner card is a hybrid and will decode digital and analog. The output of the cable box is analog so a digital only tuner would have been no good for me.

I like MC, I just wish it wasn't such a pain to setup. My TV tuner card came with WinTV and that's what I use for recording and watching live TV. Everything else I do in Media center. On the plus side even though MC doesn't like my remote as far as the setup goes, it does work, so I can easily switch back and forth between WinTV and MC and access all the menus etc with the TV tuner cards remote.
