I am currently running a win7 pc with my xbox 360 set up as a WMC extender, i have been toying with the idea of getting a NAS box so the other machines on the network can access media when my pc is off,

my question is, will the 360 still work streaming media from a nas box when the WMC pc is off?

Ta,

D.

Not if your extender was set-up on the PC in question, as far as I know.

If the PC is off, it obviously can't work as an MC extender, however you could strem it from a Windows Home Server NAS. That works great. If you set your PC to sleep, the extender will wake it up when needed, so you don't really need to power it off. Sleep mode works really well on W7 and uses very very little power.

I think this may be the best option,

Thanks for the advise.
