WMI Issue

I knew I had a WMI issue after asking in the Malwarebytes forum on why I can't install their software. After submitting the results of the MB Support Tool scan, I was told I had a WMI issue and was recommended to install their software offline. I did and successfully installed MB but was bothered by the WMI issue.

I think this is because I had cancelled the installation of a windows update since it was stuck at 141 of 164 for almost a day (99% of those updates failed, btw). Can somebody help me on how to check the system and fix the WMI issue, if there are any?

Thank you so much.

Hi Justee,

as you cancelled mid-update, this does cause major problems.
Can you confirm
You've just installed SP1, and these updates appeared

Actually I installed SP1 manually from the Microsoft website since at that time, the Windows Update in my laptop is not working. I downloaded Windows Repair from Tweaking.com to fix it. Since then I've tried to update but out of several hundred updates only a few were installed e.g. KB3074543, KB4490628.

A few days earlier I had a problem with D3DCOMPILER_47.dll being missing. I downloaded KB4019990 and Microsoft.NET Framework 4.7 to "fix" this. But I'm not sure if it did.

Now I'm having WMI problems. I'm not sure if updating Windows back then was a good idea considering all these errors popping up.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Justee,

thought it was the first lot after an SP1 install.

your best bet
copy any personal files/folders to an external device

Clean install W7 SP1, can be obtained at Heidoc.com - pause updates,
then follow this tutorial
Update your Win 7 installation media
