WMP 12 build 7068 issue

When I use the WMP and want to pause a track that's playing by using the taskbar preview, it doesn't pause the file...this didn't happen in previous builds

Anyone else experiencing this issue, if so any fix?

got the same problem here with the 7068 build (32bit), this problem wasn't here in the 7000 build. i'm sure it'll be fixed in the next build, or something.

yes it's a really known issue, so stop whyning. I'm sure the official RC will have very little bugs or maybe none.

No need for the 'whining' bit is there?

To every1 else, i've even tried scouring the registry for any way to alter WMP12's behavior. This heralded no results i'm sad to say.

i'm not whining at all, i was just saying I am having the same issue. any-way, in about an hour i am going to go to the 64bit version of the 7068 build, as i've done my research, and it'll be worth the jump, so yeah.

I noticed since upgrading to 7068, that I get a weird server error sometimes when I try to play any type of movie with wmp. I have to reboot for it to go away. The next time I get the error, I will post a screenshot or the exact verbiage.

That's quite strange, i'm using a 'completely' fresh install of 7068 (my external HD died & it had ALL my software on ) and i've not noticed. Do you have any codecs installed that have been downloaded?

Well I have shark007 installed. Come to think of it, I downloaded a program called Mediacoder so that I can make my own movie trailers, and I think it may have come with some codecs. I will wait for the error to come up again, then post the error message. Then depending on the response, I will do a system restore.

I've heard good things on this forum about shark007. Yeah, if you do get the error again it would be good to see what it says, cheers

Replace MediaCoder with AVIDemux. No reliance on drivers/codecs that might interfere with Windows.

For some reason I can't get it to work at all now, it sort of half loads and just freezes and the only way to close it is going to task manager to kill it. I did enable the Guest account to see if it was working on a different account and seems to be working fine on the other account, just won't work on my main account.

Close WMP12, use task manager to kill wmpnetwk.exe (you'll have to view all users to see it) and immediately delete your prefs folder %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player before Windows restarts wmpnetwk.exe. You can also try control panel/troubleshooting/programs/windows media player library to do the same thing but I'm not positive that works right yet.

I've had this before, but it soon sorted itself out after killing the process in task manager then restarting my laptop.

Thanks Baarod and Orbital Shark, I had already gone to that folder and deleted all the files in there but it didn't change anything at first but I just tried a restart in case that made a difference and now it's working again, so thanks to both of you for the help, I would still like to know why that happens though.

I put it down to an issue retrieving the library data, as i've removed a lot of files/folders from my music/pictures/video library i've not had that issue again. I found it to happen more in builds 7048 & 7057 though.

Replace MediaCoder with AVIDemux. No reliance on drivers/codecs that might interfere with Windows.

Mediacoder doesn't register any codec that may mess up your install and the install folder is pretty portable like AVIDemux. It can also rely on external plugin installed by other third party softwares, but you can also copy the needed files in the mediacoder plugin directory and never need to have that third party software installed again. Though, I could be wrong as I only tested it with the CT ACC pluging that's installed with Winamp.

just downloaded AVIDemux to compare and it looks a lot easier to use than Mediacoder it just doesn't have as many options.

I'm sure the official RC will have very little bugs or maybe none.

Shows how little you know about programming. The bug count for an RC build is probably in the region of several hundred at a minimum and the shrink-wrap release will still have the majority of those bugs unfixed.
