WMP 12 messed up....

"Windows media player is not installed properly and must be reinstalled."

Trying to downgrade to WMP 11 and followed these steps.

Downgrade to Windows Media Player 11 from Windows Media Player 12 in Windows 7 - Tips & Tweaks

Im not blaming anyone for the way I messed up the registry. Im just wondering can anyone help me put it pack the way it was? Im new to all this coming from XP... Thanks for the help!

Hi, Welcome to SF,

You could try these steps

Go To Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Turn on or off Windows Features
Look for Windows Media Player (Mostly under Media)
Uncheck that then click on then Reboot the System then Turn it back on see whether that fix your problem.

I love WMP12 accept for the fact that I have Windows 7 installed on an older laptop and it doesnt run smoothly. It glitches alot and my desktop shows through during these strobe like flashes.
My firefox and photoshop cs4 were doing the same thing but I changed compatability settings back to Windows XP service pack 2 and it fixed it in both. Went to do it to WMP 12 and it didnt allow me to. So I went to downgrade to 11 and thats when I started messing things up


EDIT: Tried above fixes... None of them worked. It started when I deleted part of the registry. I need to put it back somehow.

I look the artilce that you followed it mentioned about backing a backup of your registry before perfrorming those steps. Did you make one ??

No lol. Lessons learned i guess. I did a system restore and got it working again. All my settings went back to when I first installed winddows 7 (5 days ago). I know it probably doesnt belong in this forum but then only thing I cant figure out is before I did system restore, when I hover the pointer over an open program in the taskbar, it would display a small window of what was happening.. Now all it displays is just text of whats in that window. Whats the setting to get that back displaying a pic of whats going on?? Thanks for all the help so far guys! I appreciate it!

Try to reinstall your Display drivers that might fix your issue.

Update your drivers,Go to device manager, rt. click display adapter, update driver.
If you filled out your specs in your user CP we could probably be able to help more.
