Hi,

Wonder if anyone can help, this issue is driving me crazy!

I really like WMP12 however when I double click a song in my library it adds my whole library to the now playing list. I don't want this to happen. When double clicking a song I only want that song to load in my playlist.

I've searched through the settings in WMP12 and I've also searched through the forum but can't seem to find an answer to this problem. Help

G

Well you can right click the song and select play, but i assume you'd rather have the default action be play instead, so I'm not sure if that helps or not.

I use WMP a lot and there is not a straightforward way to change that, maybe there's a registry setting someone else knows about, but probably not

Same problem here!! Of Course there's the "right click, select play" option, but that's not the point. Double clicking to get a single song to play is intuitive and in keeping with standard operating procedure in windows. Can you imagine what it'd be like to doble click a .jpg file and have 5000 iterations of ACDSee open up???

Well... it isn't THAT bad but still, come on Microsoft. There are four or five other SIMPLE mods I'd like to see in WMP12. Like haveing multiple libraries, Perhaps setting the default "Stars" list to zero stars, A sort column which shows that a song has been included in playlist(s), a hierarchy of sort lists for example: Bit Rate> Artist> Genre

Hey,

Some good points raised there tangent! I've been dragging a single track on to the playlist as a work around but even that isn't always perfect! I can't believe that Microsoft have done this in WMP12! Was there any user acceptance testing done on this :sarc:

I also have a requirement to 'play only the selected track on double click' and at the end of that track, for playback to cease.

By double clicking, it is not possible. You can, however, simply drag&drop a single song into the playlist.

Well, my Brother in law has come up with a work-around. Instead of playing the tracks from within media player, if you double click on the track within it's actual folder, the track plays and then media player stops.
You can then double click on another track, in the same or a different folder, and that track then plays, and media player stops.
Giving a 'play only selected track' with a double click action :)

It all depends how EXACTLY you go about to play your music. I didn't realize that at first as I only use WMP for a very short time

Example:
#1: In the library I click on Music and just pick a song from there and the whole library appears in said list, just as you mentioned.

#2: I click on Artist, open one and pick/double click any song from there, ALL songs from that specific artist are added.

#3: I click on Albums open one pick/double click any song and the whole Album gets added

#4: I click on Genre and just as with the Artist, all albums tagged with that genre get added.

Knowing Microsoft for some time now I believe that belongs to the category FEATURE rather than BUG
:D :D

Then there's my preferred approach...don't use WMP for music at all! :p

Right noobvious...here are a few I tried:
If you look for s/th similar (with flexible library) I would say Media Monkey
If you just look for a flexible audio player with tons of skins I would say Aimp2, Xion or even the "laden cow" winamp
If skins are not so important there would be foobar or XMPlay

Why the two media players for audio? I only use foobar <3
And I simply bought Pikosoft's Easy CD-DA Extractor for 50$ and get updates for life, lol :geek:
Mediamonkey Gold holds my lossy library (mp3, wma, ogg vorbis, m4a), functions as my podcast aggregator, and is what I manage my DAPs with. foobar holds my FLAC library, and is very useful for its file integrity verifier, ReplayGain scanner, etc.
