Was just wondering if anyone had experienced this video thumbnail issue when scrolling through the WMP12 library - thumbnails get mixed up with others, and sometimes refresh once you stop scrolling, but sometimes (most times for me) they don't. This also happen with pictures.
Music album art, on the other hand, seems stable.

Also, for anyone who has a Windows mobile phone connected, is there any way to disable WMP 12 inspection of files upon closing? Often when I close I get the "cancelling inspection of files on device" and if I try to open another media file too soon, I get "Server Execution Failed".

Anyone know of a fix for either of these issues? Thanks in advance!

Old thread I know but I am having the exact same problem.

Fresh install of windows or not, shark codec pack or k-lite codec pack, when I scroll through windows media player 12 *sometimes* thumbnails for videos will mix up exactly how the original poster described, then they will revert to the correct ones and back and forth.

From what I remember it has only done this in 64-bit Windows 7, I don’t know if it has anything to do with thumbnails generating in explorer being 64-bit then there being some sort of conflict when opening wmp (32-bit).

I’m not surprised there hasn’t been an answer in this thread as this Is literally the only reference to this issue I can find on the internet, if anyone has an answer for this or if the OP managed to sort the issue I would be grateful.

I actually never found a solution unfortunately;
I just stopped using WMP's video library and just used explorer, or Picasa, to browse pics and videos.
